Braithwaite lies between the lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite in the Northern Lake District. It is readily accessible by road and lies just 19 miles from the M6 Motorway. There are regular bus services from Penrith, Carlisle, Kendal, Lancaster, Newcastle and London to nearby Keswick and the nearest railway station is Penrith, approximately 19 miles away, on the West Coast line.
To reach Orchard Grove by road: From J40 of the M6 head west on the A66 signposted Keswick and Workington. After approximately 19 miles, and having passed turn offs for Keswick and Winderemere, take the second exit at the roundabout – straight over, signposted Workington and Cockermouth. After the left turn for Portinscale take the sliproad to the left, signposted Braithwaite and Newlands Valley. You will pass a caravan park on the left at the entrance to the village and Orchard Grove will be found just a few hundred yards up on the right.
